What we need to do to win, Part 2

Ronald Brownstein of the LA TIMES wrote this in his Washington Outlook Column.  Let's take it to heart, RIGHT NOW!

What we need to do to WIN now & in the future!

OK, I admit it I am a DEMOCRAT, have been since the 1980's when Ronald Reagan, the amiable Alzheimer's patient came into office.  I was adamantly opposed to almost all of his policies, but he did utter one phrase that I will paraphrase here:  Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Democrat.  Or better yet:  The worst Democrat is better than the best Republican.

We Democrats seems to believe that if a candidate is not exactly like we are, they are not worthy of our support.  The current example of that is Rhode Island.  We ran not one but TWO candidates out of that race because they were not sufficiently pro-choice, so we now end up with a couple of second tier candidates and the race has moved to leans democratic to almost safe republican.  Also the movement to "Dump Joe" in Connecticut is another of example of how a large swath of the Democratic party would rather go down in flames with their ideology in tact while never getting anything done, such a winning the majority back in both houses of Congress.

Because the number of congressional districts that Democrats have in the Northeast is pretty well maxed out, in order to get a majority in both house of congress Democrats will have to takes seats in the South, Southwest and the West.  The Democrats that win in the locations are totally different then the candidates that win the northeast.  They are pro-gun, and pro-life, among other things.

Until we in the Democratic Party embrace people who have other points of view, we will be unworthy of a majority.

The Left-Right Dicotomy

Andrew Kenny: Beyond the great divide

Is Osama bin Laden left-wing or right-wing? How about Robert Mugabe? Who has a more left-wing approach to women's sexuality: Pope John Paul or Hustler magazine? Consider Fidel Castro. He persecutes homosexuals, crushes trade unions, forbids democratic elections, executes opponents and criminals, is a billionaire in a country of very poor people and has decreed that a member of his family shall succeed him in power. Is Castro left-wing or right-wing? Explain your answer
